Introducing the Backwards Blueprint. An AutoCrit innovation that uses AI to reverse outline your work saving you time and helping you write the perfect story.

Where to find it

To access this feature click the Analysis tab, then Fiction Analyzer. Then click Backwards Blueprint in the analysis section on the right.

Please note: You need to run a Chapter Analysis first to use the Backwards Blueprint feature. If you're not sure how to run the Chapter Analysis please check out this support post: How to use the Analyzer.

Once your Chapter Analysis is complete you can run the Backwards Blueprint by clicking here:

The "Only Empty Fields" option applies if you have any output fields with no response from the Backwards Blueprint, and you want to fill them without rerunning the entire analysis.

How it works:

The Backwards Blueprint looks at the content of your story and draws out the beats, premise, target genre, character, and worldbuilding elements. This can help you to focus in on relevant aspects of your narrative on a content development level.

Outlining and rebuilding

The Backwards Blueprint is the best way to combine the power of AutoCrit's most powerful tools, the Story Analyzer and the Story Builder.

You can now build, write, analyze, and reverse outline and strengthen your story as you go.

To transfer your Backwards Blueprint results to the Story Builder, first access the builder in Planning > Fiction Story Builder:

Then click the blue icon on each field to pull in your Backwards Blueprint results (this assumes you've already run the Backwards Blueprint feature):

If the icon is gray, this means that there is nothing for the Story Builder to fetch.

If you click the icon, you will get the following message.

Clicking yes will take you to the Backwards Blueprint feature to run it. Remember to come back to the Story Builder to develop your story further.

Please note that the even though the Backwards Blueprint's fields are the same as the Story Builder, they are output fields and are not editable. To edit them, open your Story Builder to pull in your Backwards Blueprint results.

Backwards Blueprint fields

You can find out more about what each field is about by moving your mouse over the information icon next to each field's title.

Pro Tip: Once your backwards blueprint is done generating all the fields you can skip to the beginning again by clicking the words "Backwards Blueprint" at the top.
