Are you having trouble getting your Analyzer to 100%? Here are a few things you could try and some other tips for troubleshooting common Analyzer issues:

1. The Analyzer Missed My Prologue

The program will automatically skip any content at the beginning of your manuscript if it is not set up as a chapter. If you noticed that it only started from your Chapter 1 text, but you would have liked to have your preamble/prologue included, set it up as a chapter by following the example in the motion graphic below, or see our How to Work With Chapters support post HERE.

The Analyzer will not read any text before the first chapter; it focuses on the content of your story and not the front matter.

If you have a preamble/prologue that's over 200 words, you can have it analyzed by identifying it as a chapter, like this.

2. Give the Analyzer a "Nudge" by Clicking "Only Changed Chapters"

Sometimes, because of a break in connection at some point during the analysis, your analyzer may skip over one or two fields. You can click the "Only Changed Chapters" button to give it a "nudge" and have it fill complete anything it missed the first time around. This will fill in those gaps and get your analysis to 100%.

3. Remove any images from your text

The Analyzer is unable to see images in your file. Try removing any images you have in it to prevent the analysis from failing.

4. Make sure there are no chapters under 200 words or over 10,000 words

If your chapters are too long, you can split them up into 2 parts: "Chapter 3.1" and "Chapter 3.2" (remember, you can always join them later; this is only to fit them into the 10,000-word limit per chapter needed to generate the best possible results). When you run the Overall Analysis later, the Analyzer will see everything as a complete story, and the chapter separations won't matter to its results.

If your chapters are too short, you may want to consider joining them with previous chapters or following chapters. This also won't matter in the Overall Analysis, but it will get you through the Chapter Analysis.

To collapse a short chapter into a previous one, click the Chapter List at the top of your Writer's Desk editing area:

Then click the "-" button beside the chapter with fewer than 200 words:

This will combine the chapter with fewer words, with the previous chapter in the list:

Pro tip: You can also meet the minimum word count limit by duplicating the text of your chapter like this:

Chapter 3 (8 words):
This is the text of my chapter three.

Chapter 3 (16 words):
This is the text of my chapter three.

This is the text of my chapter three.

This will "trick" the Analyzer into scanning chapters with fewer words, but remember, if it does not have enough information to analyze, the Analyzer could produce unintended results.

5. Manually generate missed and strange responses

It's a good idea to scroll through your analysis results to check if anything was missed or if there are any strange responses. With any AI tool, you may receive unsatisfactory results. Feel free to manually re-generate certain sections by clicking the "Generate analysis" button.
