AutoCrit has introduced a way to import and export chapters separately which can be useful for a range of use cases. Here's how you can take advantage of this amazing new feature.

1. How to upload multiple chapters into one document.
Step 1 - Click to Upload
On your Writer's Desk projects area, click the "Upload File" Button.
Step 2 - Drag'n'drop or Select Files
This will open the below window. Click on the area that says "Drag'n'drop your file here, or click to select it"
Step 3 - Selecting Your Files
This will open a window to select your files from your device:
Click and hold to select multiple files or hold the Ctrl button while single-clicking on the files you wish to add as one manuscript into AutoCrit.

Step 4 - Clicking to Upload
After selecting your chapter files click the "Open" button.
Step 5 Organizing Your Uploads
This window will appear which allows you to organize the order of your files
Move your chapters by clicking and holding these icons to drag them to where you want them to appear in your document:

Step 6 - Combining Into One Document
Click "Combine into one file", and you're all set!
2. How to add multiple chapters to one document from inside AutoCrit.
If you want to add more chapters to the manuscript you are working on you can do so easily with AutoCrit's import feature. Here's how to do it:
Step 1 - Click Import
In this chapter list, you can see Chapters I, II, and III. We are going to add Chapter IV to the document from inside a document.
The first step is to click on the import feature above the magnifying glass on the right-hand side of the Writer's Desk:
Step 2 - Choose an AutoCrit File or Upload a File
You can either upload the chapter files or add them from your projects area to your document.
To add them from inside the program, click this option:
If they have not been uploaded to your projects area and you wish to upload them from your device, click this button:

We will proceed as if your files have already been uploaded to your projects area.
Step 3 - Click to Import
Click on the button beside the chapters you wish to import to add them to the bottom of your document.
3. How to export my file to multiple chapter files.
If you want to export your manuscript into a document for each chapter. You can do that by following these steps:
Step 1 - Click Export
You can find the export button under the "Save" Icon.
This will open the menu showing the types of files you can export to your manuscript to:
Step 2 - Check the Box
The next step is to click the "Export each chapter as a unique file" box".
Step 3 - Choose your Export Option
Choose your export option.
Export (.docx) - Downloads your file to your device as a document as-is.
Export with highlights (.docx) - Downloads your file as a document, with the highlights from the AutoCrit reports.
Export (.rtf) - Downloads your file as a rich text document.
Export (.txt) - Downloads your file as a text file.
Once you've clicked an export option, your file will be downloaded to your device into your default downloads folder as a .zip file.
Inside the zip file you will find each chapter saved as a unique file:
4. How to save my file as separate chapter files inside AutoCrit.
If you want to save your manuscript as separate files inside the program to work on them individually, follow these steps:
Step 1 - Click the Save Icon
The save icon is the second from the top on the top right-hand side corner:
Step 2 - Click Save As
Step 3 - Choose a Folder
Choose which Project Folder to save your file to by clicking the drop-down menu:
*You can create a Project Folder by clicking "Add New"
Step 4 - Check the Box and Save
Check the "Save each chapter as a unique file" box and click "Save"
This will save your project into separate chapter files that can be found in your projects area.
5. Important details to remember
These are some important things to remember when uploading your files.
Your chapters will not sync to the original file after adding them to a manuscript. Once it is added it becomes a part of the manuscript it was added to. The file that the text was added from will remain a separate file.
Before uploading ensure that your file is in .docx , .txt or .rtf format.
We recommend removing any images in your manuscript.
If you are having trouble uploading, try changing the font of your whole document to a common font such as "Arial". Once your file has been uploaded you can change the font to an available one within the program.
You might experience some lag with manuscripts that have a higher word count. Try saving your manuscript to separate chapters, this will improve the lag greatly. You can combine your chapters again when you need to use the Fiction/non-fiction analyzer.
