How to Install the Grammarly Extension on Your Chrome Browser

AutoCrit has a new way to seamlessly integrate with Grammarly, enhancing your document editing experience. Our latest approach features additional editing options to help elevate your writing. Utilizing the Grammarly integration within AutoCrit remains free and also entirely within your control.

This article will show you how to add the Grammarly extension to your Chrome browser.

First, for the extension to work, you need to have a free Grammarly account. If you need help creating one, you can see our article Spelling and Grammar.

Installing the Grammarly extension

  1. Access the Chrome Menu in the upper right corner (3 dots)

  2. Go to Extensions.

  4. Search for "Grammarly"

  5. Select "Grammarly: Grammar Checker..." and Add to Chrome.

  6. Return to your AutoCrit editing page.

  7. Choose the "puzzle piece" extensions button in the chrome tool bar again.

  8. Select the "pin" option next to Grammarly so that the Grammarly icon displays in the Chrome tool bar.

    Once it's added you should see this "G" icon in your tool bar.

  9. Refresh the AutoCrit page in Chrome.

  10. Click your cursor in the text field. You should now begin to see Grammarly highlighting spelling and grammar issues. (This may take several seconds to initiate for larger files.)

  11. You can toggle the Grammarly extension on/off using the Grammarly button pinned in the chrome tool bar.

It's as easy as that!



Still seeing spelling corrections?


You might need to disable your browser's Spell Check:

1. Click on the three-dot menu button located at the end of the toolbar.

2. Click on "Settings" from the drop-down menu.

3. In the browser Settings on the left, click on "Languages".

4. Under the "Languages" section, you will find a toggle button for "Spell Check". Click on it to turn off Spell Check completely.

That's it! You have successfully disabled Spell Check on your Google Chrome browser.

If you ever want to re-enable it, simply follow the same steps and toggle the button back on.
