You can convert speech to text within the AutoCrit editor using the dictate feature.

How to Use the Dictation Features

Here are the steps needed to use dictation in AutoCrit:

Screenshot of dictation option location.

  1. Choose a location in your file were you want text to be inserted. You should have a "blinking" cursor at this location.

  2. In the right sidebar, click on the dictate icon as shown in the image above.

  3. Click on the microphone icon to begin recording. You may be asked to allow AutoCrit to use your microphone.

  4. Speak clearly into your microphone, pausing at locations that feel natural (end of sentences, commas...). You do not need to speak the punctuation elements as the system will auto-detect these.

  5. Your text will appear and be converted on the page at the location of your cursor.

  6. Click on the Stop icon to complete the task.

How to Use the NEW 'Add Paragraphs' Tool

If you've used the dictation feature and found that the paragraphs were not set to your liking, you can now use the Add Paragraphs tool to automatically split your work into paragraphs.

To use it, follow these steps.

  1. Select the text you need to split into paragraphs here:

  2. Click the paragraph tool in the dictation tool menu.

  3. Your work will be split into shorter paragraphs.

Pro Tip:
You can also use the paragraphing tool for other purposes, like splitting up longer paragraphs to speed up your pacing.
