You can change the scenes into chapters by changing their titles.
If you have the titles set up as "Scene 1", "Scene 2", "Scene 3", consider using the Find & Replace feature to change everywhere it says "Scene" in your text to "Chapter".
Here are the steps to use the Find & Replace feature for this operation:
1. On the right-hand side of your open document, click on the Find & Replace feature in the toolbar (the magnifier icon).
2. Add the term you want to search for in the Find section, and the term you want to replace it with in the Replace section, then click Find Next to begin:
3. Click the Replace button to replace each instance with the alternate word you entered into the replace field.
You can click the Replace All option if you are confident that it will replace your text in all the correct places—if you accidentally click it, just click the Undo button at the top of the editor to reverse your changes.
4. Once done, you can click the chapter drop-down at the top and then click the Auto-find chapters option to have the program automatically identify all your chapters.
This will quickly change all your scenes into chapters in the program. Please note that your scenes need to be on their own line for this to work automatically. See the example below for more.
The instructions will not work well for scenes that are set up like this:
Act 1: Scene 1
Here, the Scene label shares the same line as the Act label.
