What is the Story Analyzer Plus?
The Story Analyzer Plus is the next step forward from AutoCrit’s original Story Analyzer. While the old version offered insights into different aspects of your writing, the Plus version brings them all together into one streamlined, powerful tool. It’s faster, clearer, and packed with features that help you understand your story at every level — from big-picture structure down to character details.
This guide will walk you through the key differences, how to use the tool, and what kind of feedback you can expect. You’ll also find a full video walkthrough at the end of the article.

What’s new in Story Analyzer Plus?
Story Analyzer Plus takes everything you loved from the old Analyzer and expands it:
A single streamlined interface for Story, World, Characters, and Beats.

Please note: The Backwards Blueprint has been combined with the main Story Analyzer, and can now be found in the Beats / Outline section.
Clearer feedback with concise summaries and highlights.
Deeper insights into genre, tropes, conflict, and foreshadowing.
Multi-character analysis, including protagonist and supporting roles, with the added ability to manually set your protagonist/s.
Flexible beat sheet options (switch between plot-centered, character-centered, romance, mystery, horror, and the new 'Outline' option for your own plot format).
How do I run the Story Analyzer Plus?
Upload or paste your text into AutoCrit. See this support post if you need help.
Click on the Analyzer Plus icon on the right-hand side.
Choose to run individual sections by clicking Generate in each field, or click Start Analysis to run the full report. The Generate option has additional functionality you can learn about HERE.
Wait for the system to process (the time it takes to complete depends on your book's length).
And that’s it! Once your analysis reaches 100%, your results will be displayed automatically. Simple, straight to the point, and ready for you to explore.
Where do I find my Old Analysis Results?
You can find the Old Story Analyzer results by clicking this icon at the top of the Analyzer:
You cannot run it at this time, but you can copy your results and data from it or export the feedback if you need it.
How to Use the Additional Context/Instruction Fields in the Analyzer Plus
The Story Analyzer Plus now allows you to tailor your feedback to target points of interest, along with a host of other functions. Here's how you can use the added context and instructions fields to your advantage.
Click the drop-down arrow next to the Generate button on a field to open the additional context window. This is where you can add your additional instructions or context to help the analyzer provide specific feedback or to help it better understand your story.
Generate New With Context
Clicking Generate New will send your manuscript text, along with your custom added instructions for the AI to analyze.
Update With Context
Clicking Update will send your manuscript text, along with your custom added instructions AND your current analysis feedback for the AI to update based on your instructions.
PRO TIP: The new additional instructions tools are great for helping the AI understand your manuscript better to provide more useful feedback. You can use them in numerous ways to improve the quality of the outputs and to obtain additional suggestions or ask questions to the AI, and they will be addressed in the analysis results.
